Ashtanga Yoga, A way of living
This sequential ordering of the Primary Series focus' on asanas, pranayama, bandhas (energy locks) and drishti (steady gaze). But there is a more to Ashtanga yoga. Out of class we can live our yoga by trying to follow these rules called the Ashtanga Yoga Method. Or Pantanjali's (often called the founder of yoga) eight-limbed method.
1) Yama (restraints, or moral codes)

----• Bramacharya (non-lust, or taking in excess)
----• Aparigraha (non-possessiveness)
2) Niyama (self-purification and study)

----• Tapas (Austerity, sometimes translated as "internal heat")
----• Swadhyaya (study of one's self or sacred text)
----• Ishwarapranidhana (awareness)
3) Asana (posture)
4) Pranayama (breath control)
5) Pratyahara (sense control)
6) Dharana (concentration)
7) Dhyana (meditation)
8) Samadhi (contemplation, sometimes translated as "bliss")
